Jim Rush

Consultant

Jim Rush is currently a consultant to senior management in the area of organizational transformation and a member of the Duke Corporate Education Global Learning Resource Network. He has held both corporate and academic positions in the fields of organizational behavior and development. Jim has over 30 years of experience, the last 15 of which have been in the financial service industry.

Most recently, Jim was Managing Director and Chief Learning Office for Marsh Inc., the world’s largest insurance broker and risk advisor. Marsh operates more than 400 offices in over 100 countries. Beyond the design and delivery of learning for over 25,000 colleagues globally, Jim’s role was to help senior executives articulate and implement strategy – education being a prime driver in building support for, understanding of and capability to execute that strategy. Prior to Marsh, Jim was Senior Vice President and Executive Director of the Bank of Montreal’s Institute for Learning, a well benchmarked Corporate University.

Before this corporate work, Jim was a member of the faculty of the Ivey Business School at the University of Western Ontario – an internationally ranked business school – where he taught organizational behavior. For his last four years at Ivey, he was the Chair of the flagship MBA program. Jim’s teaching, research and consulting centered on the renewal of organizations – how businesses recreate themselves while remaining productive at their core. He is the author of three books, numerous articles and over 30 teaching cases.

Jim received his BA from the University of Western Ontario, his MA from the University of Detroit and his PhD from the University of Minnesota. He was a fellow at the Center for Creative Leadership.
