Dramatic Reinvention: Moving from a Tactical Training Team to a Strategic Learning Organization
When: Wednesday, March 21st, 2012 : 11:00AM - 12:00PM EDT
New York-based Town Sports International (TSI) is the second largest owner and operator of fitness clubs in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions, and the 5th-largest in the US overall. Their goal is to become the most recognized health club network in the four regions they serve as New York, Boston, Washington and Philadelphia Sports Clubs. Over the last 36 years, TSI has grown to 157 clubs in these markets, as well as 3 additional locations in Switzerland. Currently, the 9000 team members at TSI work hard to deliver upon their mission every day: To Improve Lives Through Exercise.
Prior to 2009, the TSI learning & development unit was primarily a tactical training department focused on short-term, individual learning needs. In 2009, the recession put a halt to TSI’s growth, but rather than slashing the training budget, the company saw the pause as an opportunity to expand the role of training and human resources in the corporate mission and to put clear plans in place for operational improvement. As a result, the learning unit was redesigned so that the learning strategy was directly aligned with business strategies and goals. The learning unit was re-launched in 2010 under the brand “Training Camp”. In just a few short months, the Training Camp was already demonstrating positive impact as a strategic business driver.
At this webinar, you will learn about how the formerly tactical training organization was completely reinvented as a strategic business partner, and the programs and strategies that were developed to address the following five strategic business imperatives:
- Developing a talent pipeline Linking a corporate university to the culture, mission and “brand” of the organization
- Ensuring overall operational excellence
- Improving customer satisfaction
- Increasing sales / bottom line revenue
- Establishing a competitive talent advantage within the industry by building a true “learning organization”
From this webinar, participants will leave with practical, real-world, award-winning alignment strategies and tools that can be applied within their own businesses.
