The Key to Competency Development at Infosys

When: Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

The Key Issues: Developing competencies is usually an internal process that is driven by the behaviors of high-performers, as well as an internal view of what makes these individuals successful. For companies in the service economy, there is another important constituency; "the end-users" of the company's talent - that can be brought into the process.

Infosys has rapidly grown into one of the largest IT companies in the world. Headquartered in India, the company serves clients worldwide and needs to improve those clients with qualified, well-trained talent. Infosys also has an excellent reputation within the L&D community, providing its new employees with first-rate educational opportunities. Dr. Subhash C. Rastogi, head of the Enterprise Solutions Academy, will describe how Infosys reached out to end-users to help develop competencies and certification programs in 4 areas: Technical, Domain, Process, and Soft Skills. He will also tell the story of the Enterprise Solutions Academy, and how they collaborated with internal and external education service providers to develop the "right" competencies once they were determined.

Subjects Covered:
  • The role of the Enterprise Solutions Academy
  • The role played by the Enterprise Solutions Academy
  • How the competencies that constituted those certifications were determined through collaboration with end-users, and how they were taught using internal and external educational service providers
  • What steps were taken - internally and externally - to brand the internal certification programs
