Measuring the Performance Impact of Training at Boeing

Successful L&D organizations measure. They know what performance impact they are aiming for, and have rigorous procedures to determine if their goals (and therefore the goals of the business leaders involved with a particular initiative) are met. Mark Dana, from the Learning, Training and Development Organization at the Boeing Company will describe their training evaluation process for Performance Impact (ROI). He will discuss participants in the evaluation process and their roles and show and describe the tools the team uses to conduct an evaluation. Examples of completed performance impact studies will be presented.

Presenters:
Mark, Manager of Learning, Training and Development (LTD), has been with the Boeing Company for 20 years in the areas of learning, training, development and employee relations. Dana developed a training evaluation methodology and currently advises and trains LTD project managers on evaluation and measurement. His methodology was profiled in the Boeing Frontiers Magazine in October 2005 and presented at American Strategic Management Institute conferences. Mark also is responsible for maintaining the business plan and monthly performance plan. Previously, he was an employee relations representative for the Integrated Defense System organization. He began his career with McDonnell Douglas Corporation in training and development, employee assessment and employee development.
