Social Learning Executive Council: The Boeing Company: The Convergence of Social Networking and Social Learning in a Large, Global Enterprise
When: Tuesday, August 31st, 2010 : 11:00AM - 12:00PM EST
Over a year ago, the Boeing Company implemented Facebook-like social networking to connect their global workforce. To date, this approach to networking has been completely informal and not tied directly to learning strategy. Now, Bill Epstein, Director of Applied Learning Technologies at Boeing, is exploring and innovating ways to apply social networking to social learning. The partnership between IT and Learning will be critical for the success of this venture.
In this session, we will learn about Boeing’s journey to apply social media to social learning and will participate in a dialogue that will explore the following questions (and more):
- What is the business case for social networking? Social learning?
- What is the case for the convergence of social networking and social learning?
- What is the thinking about social learning in context of enterprise-wide social networking strategy?
- What results are being seen so far from the investment in social networking?
Come to this August 31st meeting for a lively, idea-generating discussion about bridging social networking and social learning!
