Is there really a correlation between learning and employee engagement? Fred Goh, the Director of Learning Strategy for Caterpillar, notes that in the past there has been no proven relationship, though there seems to be an intuitive link. The issue is that without an index in place, there is no data to prove the relationship or track attempts to increase levels of engagement. Using 30 data points across Caterpillar’s business units to track progress towards the improvement of this critical factor, they were able to show strong a correlation between engagement and strong L&D programs.
