CASE STUDY:
Targeting the Middle Level at P&G

The Launch and Beyond

Over the next several months, the task force reworked their materials based on the participant feedback and launched the College in January 2004 with great success and a 4.2 overall rating. With increasing experience and coaching, the March 2004 Deans and trainers scored even better with a 4.4 overall rating. Over ten college sessions have now been delivered with over 500 participants.

However, the task force knew that good evaluations from participants was not sufficient to justify the ongoing expenditures and time for the R&D University. The College should precipitate action. To encourage action, participants are asked to list what they would start, stop and continue as a result of their week-long experience. Figure 3 shows the most common responses to this question. Participants’ responses are consistent with the desired outcomes based on the original business problem given to the task force

concerns about tackling the biggest college of all at the Band 2 level. This level consists of over 2000 people with an even broader range of skills, talents and experiences than all the previous Colleges. The five Colleges were rolled out within the 3-year time frame.
