CASE STUDY:
Targeting the Middle Level at P&G
Unexpected Benefits
R&D University, and Band 3 College in particular, has become well known within the company. There is a waiting list, not only to attend as a participant, but to be a trainer, Module Owner or Dean. The unexpected benefit of R&D University has been how this formal training program has brought people together in informal ways. Our leadership has been energized as they interact with the very talented participants. The module training teams have come from across the various business units to learn from each other and to create new thinking for themselves as well as for others. Lastly, by teaching the art of training, which requires more skill than giving presentations, the trainers have experienced the value in letting others learn by doing under the tutelage of a great guide. The classroom provides leaders a chance to practice guiding people rather than commanding, a leadership style that is particularly valued by Generation X and Y.
