Acquia a commercial open source software company, providing products, services, and technical support for the open source Drupal social publishing system.  The company was formerly known as Aquia and changed its name to Acquia in December 2007. Acquia was founded in 2007 by Dries Buytaert, the original creator and project lead of the Drupal project, and Jay Batson, previously founder and CEO of Pingteand. Acquia is based in Woburn, Massachusetts.

It is a packaged distribution of the open source Drupal social publishing system that is used by Web developers to build community websites, as well as deliver various Web applications, such as single or multi-user blogs, wikis, community networks, digital media portals, and ecommerce.

Acquia Network

It offers subscription-based access to technical support and remote network services for the deployment and operation of Drupal Websites

Acquia Search

 It is a tool to search the content of a site, which provides support for enterprise-scale site indexing and navigation. It also provides commercial grade support for the open source Drupal social publishing system, including modules, themes, and custom code.
