The International Institute for Management Development (IMD) was formed as a result of a merger between IMI (founded in Geneva by Alcan in 1946) and IMEDE (founded in Lausanne in 1957 by Nestle). Its industrial heritage sets it apart from the other leading business schools, which are all university-affiliated.
The IMD campus is located in Lausanne, which is situated about 40 minutes by road or rail from Geneva. The IMD campus facilities include a state-of-the-art Executive Learning Center, a Research & Development Center, a Information Center, auditoriums, study group rooms and meeting rooms equipped with advanced audio-visual and computer equipment. The campus is non-residential.
